In early 2009, after several months of pestering his office, I was granted 20 minutes with his Holiness Tony Blair. It was just me and big Tone, on the balcony of a luxury hotel in Abu Dhabi, where he was due to give a talk at a conference on the environment. Just a few thousand kilometres away, Israel was bombing Gaza. The interview turned out to be a regional exclusive.
